More
detail about Noun clauses and adverb clauses
After the if in the first sentence, it becomes a noun clause. It is a form of the third sentence
pattern consisting of subject + ask + object, and the if clause is the object.
彼女が私の手伝いが必要か(を)聞いてみるよ。
I’ll ask if she needs my help.
On the other hand, the second sentence has a completed sentence, which is modified by the if
clause. So, this is an adverbial clause.
もし彼女が明日空いているなら、その質問を聞いてみるよ。
I’ll ask her the question if she is free tomorrow.
